With each day, we are gradually transitioning towards hybrid and multi cloud environments. In the case of multi cloud, an enterprise will be using multiple Cloud Service Providers (CSP) for its various workloads.

Although the multi cloud results in the most optimal solution post implementation, it gives rise to a host of security and integration related challenges. Most of these issues are confronted by the deploying entity’s IT teams, while end user experience is great.

Let’s highlight a few steps you can adopt to secure a multi cloud environment.

Event Logging is Centralized

In the multi cloud, there would be a lot of inter-cloud communication or overlap of certain workloads. To identify and quantify both performance and security concerns, you need to centralize the event logging process as a top priority.

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)

In the multi-cloud, information related to security protocols and events may become overwhelming. You also need to view this information in a holistic manner to see exactly what’s happening. For this, you need an out of the box or custom SIEM solution.

Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM)

With varying security protocols for various cloud environments, you need to have a quality CSPM solution. Such a tool will not only help you standardize security protocols for disparate cloud environments, but also identify the potential gaps.

This was just a glimpse of how you can secure multi cloud environments. As the multi cloud is relatively new, its security is also an evolving domain at the moment. Still, there can’t be two opinions on the notion that hybrid and multi clouds are the future of the Cloud.
